contacting the Bagaduce Music Lending Library, Blue Hill, Maine
(207-374-5454) as a first step.  If something is desperately needed and
is pre-WW II, I could try the Library of Congress (LC) music and copyright
collections, but it's not something I want to do routinely, when the music
is more easily available from Bagaduce.

I don't entirely agree with Dan Wilson's evaluation of 88-note piano
rolls.  So much depends on the performer whose work is captured in the
perforated paper -- and to a lesser degree on the composer or tune genre.
Rags always bring more than a few cents and anything by a performer like
Pete Wendling brings a good price.  And composers like E. T.. Paull, Harry
J. Lincoln, Abe Holzmann, even John Philip. Sousa (in his rarer pieces)
bring good prices, above the 50 cents or so of an average flea market
music roll dealer.  Check the prices being offered in QRS's or Rag Daddy's
auctions or any of the several other roll auctions and you get an idea of
how to value your rolls.
