Record collectors among us may chuckle at the dismissal of "disc" as the more venerable spelling. Three examples come to mind, all from the 'teens or earlier:
Edison Diamond Disc Phonograph (and records) Columbia Double-Disc Records Standard Disc Records
I'm sure there are more.
