Sounds like you were using the DOS version, which is no longer
supported. It was a real mode program and therefore had to fit all data
structure in 64 kB chunks, which were constantly being swapped in and
out of extended memory.  The result was painfully slow. The current
WAVmaker (2.3) especially the Windows 95 build is MUCH faster, and the
MIDInight Express works in real time.
