In Digest 960927 John Phillips wrote, "In response to Bryan Cather's enquiry ..." "Enquiry" hasn't appeared in U.S. dictionaries for several generations; here in "The Colonies" it's spelled "inquiry" ! I don't know if the pronunciation is different. (Perhaps I'll enquire... !)
