Finish on Concert Roller Organ

I have a Concert Roller Organ made of oak with the original finish intact (including much gold stencilling). The base is done in black lacquer. The finish has darkened a bit over time and is starting to show slight signs of flaking. Does anyone have advice as to how to restore the finish? I do not want to destroy the stencilling.
