Rick, your collection is certainly big enough to merit making a list. I
had a scary fire in my garage a year ago in which several borrowed Duo-Art
rolls incurred water damage. Fortunately the owner was sympathetic and
only new boxes were needed. I should have had a complete list for the
insurance claim, showing the condition of the roll, in order to establish
replacement and/or market value.
I _store_ the list (the data base) as a simple text file with either the
tab or backslash delimiter. It is easily viewed and operated upon in a
text processing program, where I can remove leading and trailing spaces,
etc., and of course I can replace the delimiter with other delimiters
as necessary.
My favorite data base manager (for manageing, not "pretty-printing") is on
the PC: "NutShell" and its successors, "NutPlus" and "NutUltra". This
program is relational and easily and quickly looks up data in other data
bases. Usually I have three separate data files open: piano rolls,
phonograph recordings, and a big sheet music file which is my "master"
source of correct titles and composers.
I'll send you the Fats Waller Rollography separately -- let me know how it
works out for you! Best regards,
Robbie Rhodes
