"Nickelodeon" and Nickelodeonics

Nickelodeon is just a good ol' American slang term that collectors have used for years to describe their coin-operated pianos. Most of these instruments were usually nickel operated, though some used dimes, quarters, or half dollars. I have seen Seeburgs with original coin escutcheon plates for nickels, dimes, and quarters. These plates were the ones used on the early Seeburgs that actually told you what coin to use. So therefore, not all nickelodeons are nickelodeons, nor are all tissue papers Kleenex.
Perhaps there would be those of you who think we should teach nickel- bonics in the schools. I would support that. Yeah, that's the ticket -- a Seeburg in every classroom.
