Replicating Labels
By Dean Randall

Help, help, help! I've recently become involved with making reproduction Ampico box labels with my handy-dandy computer, scanner & printers, and I find I have need for more information than I can find in my own collec- tion. Is there anyone out there with a large collection of original Ampico rolls who is willing to dig in his or her collection to provide me with some information and perhaps a photocopy or two? My information gaps are primarily in the pre-1922 label styles.

If someone would take pity on me, I would be eternally grateful.

Since I doubt that any of this information exchange would make fascinating reading for MMD subscribers, it might be better to contact me directly.

Waiting hopefully,

Dean Randall

[ Restoring the music media is just as important as restoring the
[ rest of the instrument, Dean, and it surely merits our attention.
[ Besides good-quality artwork you want a good replica of the printed
[ data. Can anyone tell us the names of the old typefaces used for
[ music roll labels, and if equivalents exist in computer fonts?
