Replicating Roll Labels

Many years ago I operated a printing business specializing in historic reproduction. So I have lots of knowledge about the type of printing that was done on piano roll labels.
While today's computers, offset and laser printing make fairly easy work of reproducing a label, purists may notice that the original labels were printed from metal type impressed against the paper. In many cases this letterpress printing has a look and feel that cannot be reproduced by more modern means.
This may help fill in some of the information for those who notice that no matter how closely they match type style and image, the finished label looks different from the original.
There are still letterpress printers out there, including one in the neighborhood who does some of my work. If any other old time printing fanatic wants more information about the process of reproduction from metal type, they can freely contact me.
Computer printers do a good job at a negligible cost, but a more perfect reproduction is available, as long as cost is not an issue. (Doesn't that sound familiar?)
