Schloss Bruchsal Museum CD "Musica Mechanica"
By Nancy Fratti

Robbie mentioned the CD from the Museum in Bruchsal, "Musica Mechanica"
in today's MMD 970426. In the program notes they list & picture a
"Welte Philharmonie-Orgel". The notes (some in German, some in English)
state that "the organ was built for the luxury liner "Titanic", but it
was not finished on time and thereby escaped the sinking of the ship...".

I was lucky enough to purchase the remaining stock of this CD from the
Museum. I was told at the time that they were not going to make any more
of them. Each instrument played on the CD is pictured and described (the
description is in German); it is a little over 53 minutes long and
features such machines as: Maestro, Styria, Helios, Arburo,
Phonoliszt-Violina, Harmoni-Pan, Komet, Stella, Symphonion Eroica,
Mignon, Welte Piano-X, and a few more!

I have 12 left: they are $29.95 + $3.50 postage each.

[ This CD is my favorite "sampler" of a variety of instruments. I play
[ it often at home for "housework music" ! It's great. -- Robbie
