Vince's Wurlitzer Player Piano
By Rocci Cirone

Vince,

Sounds like your piano is much like mine is/was... Mine used to rewind
perfectly fine, but then barely play. I had to fix several small-ish
things, and still have quite a few to fix, but the biggest problem turned
out to be the old wind motor supply hoses. They actually had cracks in
them that couldn't be seen from the outside of the hose (the covering was
intact, but the rubber inside had dried and cracked. Once I replaced
those hoses, the whole thing sprang to life. I had to then make very
huge adjustments to the rewind accelerator, the tempo, and the action
cutoff valves. Once that was done, enough vacuum was actually getting
its way into the stack to play pretty well. I still have to re-cloth the
foot pedal bellows, but at least if I get it going it will play pretty well.

Well.. it's just a thought... but if your Wurlitzer has the original large
supply hoses like mine did, its a good chance that they've rotted inside as
well.
