Songs About Beer
By Larry Smith

Robbie commented in Digest 970704:

>[ Gambrinus is a mythical Flemish king said to have been the
>[ inventor of beer.

Nope. Beer was invented by the Irish. I have it on the best of
authority.  =)

  "He might have been an Ad-mir-al, a sultan or a king
   and to his praises we shall always sing!
   Look what he has done for us, he's filled us up with cheer,
   The Lord Bless Charlie Mott, the man who invented beer, beer, beer!"

The words and tune are from the Clancy Brothers "Drinking Songs" album,
which, I expect, may have several others songs about beer, unless I miss
my guess entirely.

regards,
Larry Smith

 [ My source didn't tell from whence Gambrinus came to Belgium,
 [ 'tho his name sounds a wee bit Gaelic, doesn't it?! -- Robbie
