Davis Calliope on the Mississippi Queen
By Don Elbers

Davis Calliope Works and Custom Systems, 4023 Woodland Park North,
Seattle, built the calliope for the Mississippi Queen riverboat. The date
on the drawings is 11/12/75.

We have been maintaining this instrument and the Nickel built calliope on
the Delta Queen for about twelve years.

The Mississippi Queen instrument plays best (for tune and voicing) at
circa 15 psig [pounds per square inch gage pressure]. We are currently
trying to keep the pressure on the Delta Queen at about 17 psig.

I have lots of information on the Davis instrument and also on the others,
including the new one on the American Queen. Unfortunately I am about to
time out on this connection.

P.S. - I am trying to find a replacement for the crystal transducer on an
old Hammond reverb unit.

Thanks - Don C. Elbers

[ Don, try the Alta Vista search engine with the web browser, and
 [ and try this search string: +Hammond +reverb +parts
[ This should yield a number of links to good Hammond sites. -- Robbie
