Roll Cabinets from TV Cabinets
By Terry Smythe

An interesting and extremely low-cost source of potential roll cabinets
is old TV cabinets, those in particular with doors. You won't find them
in antique stores, but they can be found for $10-15 in the local 'Bargain
Hunter' newspaper, garage sales, junk shops, and even out on the street
waiting for garbage pickup.

The cabinets are deep enough to carry music rolls. All that's required
is to gut the cabinet, install a number of shelves at appropriate
dimensions, and a new back out of inexpensive hardboard.

There are many such old TV's around, nobody wants them, but their
cabinets are potentially useful for roll cabinets, and often quite
attractive. I've done two such conversions, very simple. Not
authentic, but quite functional.

Something to think about.

Regards,

Terry Smythe
