Duplicating Original Rolls
By Paul Johnson

On the topic of duplicating original rolls, I wonder about the accuracy
necessary on converting rolls to computer format. I think it's great
that folks can now achieve achieve an extremely accurate copy of an
original. This is particularly nice for preservation purposes, because
who knows what information we'll need in the future. I just wonder
if the extra accuracy can be heard by the average listener. Would it
be just as beneficial and easier to do a double blind listening test
to compare the original to the copy?

I've done quite a bit of work on cleaning up roll labels. After working
in Photoshop awhile, I found that some of the minor cleanup work I was
doing was not buying me anything because no one would see the minute
corrections I was making.
