during July and during August, and recently, I visited the Great Dorset
Steam Fair so...

I've been reading my messages now, and I saw that Hal Davis offered a
Decap roll for sale.  Some people wondered what it was used for.

Well, it is a fact that Decap (the right spelling is Decap, not DeCap or
De Cap) converted some organs from book- to roll-playing-system, but it
is less well known that Decap also made orchestrions in the beginning of
this century.  Their style is to be compared with the one of the 67-key
and 84-key Mortier-orchestrions (especially the facade).

As far as I know, there are only two orchestrions preserved which were
originally made by Decap.  One of them is -- as far as I know (again) --
to be found in America; but the location of the other one is unknown to
me.  Maybe this could help you a little.
