Elvis's Faventia Barrel Piano
By Mike Knudsen

Damon Atchison wrote about a miniature player piano at Graceland, the
Elvis Presley museum. That was one of the Faventia barrel pianos made
in Barcelona, which is officially in Spain (some residents might argue
this). Ideally it should have a matching cart and even a toy burro.
Also, the barrels can be interchanged.

I have one, and keeping them in tune seems to be a losing battle. They
are a good source of worms and matching worm-gears for restoring barrel
organs -- at least that's what someone seems to have done on an organ
I just picked up and am getting to play.

I also have a smaller model with toy-piano chime rods in place of
strings. It's in perfect tune and plays well, except one rod is broken,
and fitting a replacement seems like very difficult metalwork, even given
a toy piano for a parts donor.
