Vertically Stacked Duplex Spool Frame
By Marc Elbasani

I'm really behind in all the latest news, so it may come as no surprise
to any of you that Play-Rite Rolls is now cutting the "O" Orchestrion
rolls. I could have sworn they were cutting Violano Virtuoso
though.

A quick query for Matt Caulfield and Bill Black: Did Wurlitzer ever
make a 165 duplex tracker frame with the rolls positioned one on top of
the other? Because I know that B.A.B. had Artizan make their roll
frames and they were stacked vertically. The Artizan duplex tracker
mechanism was said (or so I recall having heard) to be a violation of a
patent that Wurlitzer had on their tracker frames, so I'm wondering if
Wurlitzer had what I assume is the Artizan style frame first, if at
all.

Happy Holidays MMD!

[ Both Wurlitzer and B.A.B. may have "borrowed" elegant designs from
[ Phillips of Germany. Does Bowers' Encyclopedia mention this?
