Introduction & Early Keywind Music Boxes
By Olin Tillotson

Hello. I'm Olin Tillotson of South Surrey in British Columbia. I've
been a viewer on the sidelines for some time and my computer skills are
limited. We've a Mac LC5208 which puts us on the fringe both literally
and figuratively but we somehow manage. My interests are rather
limited as the above would imply. However, I am a serious researcher
of the technology, music, makers and agents of the early period of
musical boxes.

I've been a collector and devotee of the subject for many years. MMD
is a great means of promoting cross-fertilization of ideas and I hope
to do my part. I see a number of familiar names among those
contributing and share interests with many of you. At the present,
I am particularly interested in the evolution of the manufacturing
processes, e.g., combs with hooked teeth vs. those without; checkered
cylinders and the reasons therefore; who made what and why, etc.

Everything is grist for the mill with me. Thanks to Jody for putting
it all together.
