Occasionally, as a couple of days ago, I hear a request for information
regarding the color of ivory keys.  Typically, the person wants to know
how to restore the ivories to their "original color."

Let it be known that original color of ivory is not white.  I repeat,
ivory is not originally white.  If you don't believe me, ask the
elephant.  Elephants don't lie.

It is natural for ivories to not be white.  Remember what ivory is,
then look at your own teeth.  Despite all the advertisements for
products to make your teeth whiter and brighter, white teeth still
look phony and unnatural.
