Value of Apollo and Duo-Art Rolls
By Ed Hearn

Hello -- I am a retired teacher, live in Cincinnati, own a player
piano, and have been searching the net for information about some
unusual piano rolls that I own. I have made some good contacts and
have learned quite a lot, especially in the MMD Archives. Thanks for
providing such a great web-site.

I have ten QRS (Chicago) rolls, all in original boxes, that are 15 1/4"
wide, with 6 perforations per inch. Seven are labeled "Apollo Concert
Grand" and three are labeled "88 Note". The boxes have a second label
indicating the "Rudolph Wurlitzer Company, 121 E. Fourth St.,
Cincinnati". This label also has a statement about trade-in value,
shows the roll number and price (in ink),  and a stamped-on date;
all are from 1909. Some are single selection rolls and a few have
multiple selections. I have been told these were made for the Apollo
Player Piano and are very rare.

If anyone has a working Apollo player (that uses this type of roll) or
if you can tell me of a Museum that has one I would appreciate it if you
would contact me. I would like to see and hear this instrument. Also,
I am curious about the "fair market value" of these rolls as I may
decide to sell them. Eight of these (boxes and rolls) I would rate as
in excellent condition, the other two have some water/mildew damage to
the boxes and slight roll damage. I can supply titles and more
information if you are interested.

I also have about 50 old Duo-Art (Aeolian) rolls that I will sell.
These seem to be in very good/excellent condition and include classical
and popular, mostly single selections. I do not know what these are
worth and would appreciate it if you could help me determine a fair
price.

Please contact me at hearn@one.net and thanks for your help.
