Hello,  Just read your posting in the MMD today, and the news came as a
surprise, for I received a telephone call from Alan a few weeks ago,
asking about my roll business and telling me about his current
activities over there.  (He even gave me his new E-Mail address.)

Alan visited my Studio a few years ago, when delivering a pedal "O" S&S
grand to Don Rand, whose residence-enterprise is only a few miles North
of us, on the Coastal Highway here in Maine.

Underneath his commentary, which could be outrageous, there was a
person who "really listened" to music rolls -- something that many
collectors often don't do, in my opinion.  To quote Alan, "Too many
player piano owners put a roll of Lhevinne on the shelf and then just
dream about it."  (What an accurate description for that kind of
collector!)

He'll be missed.
