Introduction & Gulbranson Tracking Mechanism
By Larry Martin

Hello MMD! My name is Larry Martin and I am trying to assist my
father (age 82) to repair a 1928 Gulbranson player piano. The
tracking mechanism has us stumped. It looks like it has been
"modified" sometime in the past, and we would like to know the
original configuration.

I found 3 pictures of a Gulbranson fish pole tracker on another
web site, but ours is built differently. Our fish pole is much
shorter, and all the mechanism is located on the transmission side
of the roll box.

Do any of you have photos, diagrams, drawings, descriptions, or
experience with such a beast? We'd appreciate any help we can get.
I'd be happy to provide additional information if that would help
you help us. (-:

Puzzled in Ohio,

Larry Martin

[ Welcome, Larry. I'm especially fond of the fish-pole tracker
 [ myself, and I'm curious if you've encountered a factory-built
[ varient. I hope our readers and expert player tech can tell us!
