Player Piano on the R.M.S. Titanic
By Gordon Forcier

I took on a job as lead projectionist in a movie theatre which happens
to be showing the movie Titanic. I seen the movie several times and
one particular scene when they are holding church services, there is a
shot of a piano with art glass on it.

I took a look at the film after running it and, using the make-up table
wound the film to that scene and using a magnifier, I found that it was
a player piano with an art glass front on it. This seemed very strange
at first. When I got home, I went on-line to a Titanic web site, and
asked for references about the pianos used on White Star Lines ships.

Apparently, they did have a player piano on all but the Britannic.
James Cameron did his homework before he made this film and my hats off
to him for a very successful job well done.

Sincerely,
Gordy Forcier
