That's news to me.  I thought they all did.  I know church organ pipe
feet often have a lead base.  The weight alone holds them on the
windchest.  The wind pressure in a fair organ would probably shoot them
up like rockets, so a tight fit is necessary.

Often, the pipes are glued in as well.  This makes it very difficult
for the restorer, but perhaps it keeps the pipes in the organ over the
years.  The organ I've worked on seem to have tapered holes, but this
may just be due to a forced fit.  Any comments?
