Introduction
By Paul Newman

Hello all MMD recipients, from Paul and Annie Newman in London UK. We
have been pianola enthusiasts only since November 1997 when we acquired
a Grotrian Steinweg upright with Higel metal player action that UK PPG
members may remember from Reg Ritchings November roll party.

We have started by collecting 88-note rolls from a wide range of
composers and variety of musical styles, although we already have more
Schubert, Chopin and Chaminade than anything else. We plan to visit
Australia later this year, and hope to collect 'Mastertouch' jazz rolls
during our stay.

In case it is relevant to future discussions on this list, I also have
keen interests in building and architectural acoustics, and in noise
control engineering.

Regards

Paul and Annie Newman

[ Welcome to MMD, Paul and Annie. Tell us sometime why pianos
[ sound great in some recital halls, and poor in others, and
[ why electronic reverberation devices still haven't displaced
[ a good concert hall for piano recordings! -- Robbie
