Song Title "How Could You Believe Me..."
By Rick Cooley

Hi Gang,

I just heard a news program that played an unusual tune as political
satire during its introduction. The song, I think from the late 1930s
or perhaps 1940s, is titled "How'yu going to believe me when I say I
love you cause I've been a liar all my life." Does anyone know the
background (dates, etc.) for this song? More importantly, since we
have a 78 rpm Jukebox collection, I would love to put a copy of this
song on one of the Jukes. Does anyone have a playable copy of the
record for sale on 78 rpm (preferred), 45 rpm or even CD?

Thanks for your attention. Just drop me a note on COTPS@AOL.COM.

With regards,

Rick and Betty Cooley, Hockessin, Delaware

[ My search of the Internet revealed that variations on this song title
[ are common enough to give the title the classification of an urban
[ legend. I tried unsuccessfully to locate variations on this title
[ on BMI and ASCAP's websites using their internal search engines.
[ I'm going to be interested if anyone knows the real title, artist, and
[ publisher... To those replying, please let us know too! --Jody
