Was just perusing the pictures of the player piano, etc. in the MMD
picture gallery.  By coincidence, this last Saturday I got a mailer
that describes the same instrument.  Its a machine sold by our old
friends, RAM - Ragtime Automated Music.

Apparently this behemoth is available to anyone who wants to plunk
down some 60-odd-thousand dollars for one.  It's MIDI controlled (GM
instrument mapping, if I recall correctly).  That would explain
"In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida".  Don't think that jewel has ever been cut into
an O-roll -- hehehe.

I'd love to download some really odd MIDI files and record this thing
playing them; sounds like a good compilation CD idea -- "The <whatever>
Orchestrion plays Metallica's Greatest Hits!"

Ouch ... Actually, that sounds rather painful !
