Sealing Pouches With Egg White
By Bernt Damm

Hi folks, In Europe they used beaten egg white to seal the pouches.
This method is still used for organ pouches as well as orchestrion
valve pouches in Germany.

The egg gets cracked, the white separated from the yoke, stirred a bit
and then painted onto the whole leather skin with a paint brush. It
doesn't seem to ever dry completely and does not stop the hide glue to
adhere, like silicone etc.

Any comments to this method? Has anyone on MMD used it recently?
What did the great orchestrion builders in the states use originally?

Regards,

Bernt Damm
