Capabilities of WindPlay

As regards WindPlay, this is not really accurate. WindPlay has
no editing capabilities except the ability to modify the tempo and
store the new setting, beside the factory setting, with the roll
file's information, displayed in the play list.

WindPlay can't write files; it is intended only as a file player.
I got the idea for it from watching the "Wind" program operate and
asked Richard Brandle if it were feasible to create a "play-only"
version of Wind to activate the PowerRoll; this is how WindPlay
started out.

Incidentally, WindPlay clearly displays song words on the image of
the perforated roll going by, if they are present in the roll file.
We hope some day someone with much time to spare will be interested in
taking on the project of adding words to the Stahnke CD-ROM word roll
files! At present I assume it is not convenient to take words from the
roll during scanning, but maybe some day this could be automated.

Maybe a special word retrofit program can be devised to enable the
operator to first store the words in a text file, then to hit a key
to enter each word at the appropriate measure in the music -- this
would speed up the process considerably.
