Hi all,  I wish to pick the brains of the piano technicians in the
group, although I'm sure there will be a difference of opinion on
this matter.

Back in '95 I mentioned that the hammers on our 1935 Chickering Ampico
B (5'4") were getting a bit on the hard side.  I figured that it's
about time to seriously think about replacing them.  The question is,
"What kind of hammers to use and at what cost?"

I would like the piano to retain it's original light sound, and would
like to stay away from the heavy sound that one gets with Matagawa
hammers, and others of this type.

What kind of sounds come from different types of hammers?  I suppose
that in all cases the piano has a great amount to do with the sound
that comes forth.  What do you have to say about Renner, Ronson, and
Abel hammers?  Which would be best in your opinion for my Chickering?
