Value of Duo-Art
By Jim Hendershot

Hello MMD'ers! It's been a while since I have written, and while
I have a cold, I am otherwise doing well. I just got my Gulbransen
player going (boy is that fun!) and now I am looking at buying a
Duo-Art. What I would like to know is a rough idea of what such things
go for.

This one is an Aeolian upright Duo-Art, model 85000 from 1928. The
finish appears okay, there has been some restorative work done on the
pneumatics, and the unit plays, but not perfectly. The piano tech-
nician says that re-stringing and hammer restoration is going to be
necessary (thin tone on the treble strings, and some action hiccups),
but that the amount of work on the pneumatics should be light to
moderate.

Anyone have an idea of what the thing is worth? It has been appraised
at $1000.00, but you know how appraisals can be. If you have an idea,
let me know.  Thanks!

Best Regards,
Jim Hendershot
