Dear Sir:  Could you tell me if there is any difference between
a piano with the name Balwin and the name "D. H. Balwin."

It appears that the D. H. Balwin had a European flavour about it,
with a high resin finish.  The Balwin's I know of years ago were
mostly lacquer finish and name "Balwin" was usually the only word on
the fallboard.  Could you please tell me what Balwin has done?
