Rebuilding Ampico "B" Unit Valves
By Larry Broadmoore

Regarding methods of preventing hot glue from getting into the passage
to the ball bleed on Ampico "B" valves: there is an easy way, which
I learned after many problems:

After mating the halves of the bleed and applying pressure, pull them
apart again and spin the tip of a cotton swab over the hole; this picks
up any glue which might have squeezed in. McMaster Carr Supply Co.
sells swabs which are pointed at the tip, making this easy. A second
peek tells whether you have succeeded, if you are uncertain.

If the glue does not permit this operation to be done, even twice,
without skinning over and losing its bond strength, the glue is
substandard and should be discarded.
