There were a number of individual comments in MMDigest 990111 regarding
current/recent production Baldwin pianos.  Morbid curiosity drives me
to inquire whether or not the Baldwin Hamilton that we bought new 10
years ago (5/88, S/N 243HP416774) falls subject to the short cuts
described.

The piano was purchased (technically for my wife) so that our oldest
son would have it to use at the recommendation of his piano teacher to
replace the electronic keyboard he was then using.  Neither my wife nor
I play the piano.  About 2 years ago, we purchased a Baldwin Hamilton
Manualo player, which we had rebuilt.  Now my wife and I have TWO
pianos in the living room, and no one currently living at home knows
how to play a piano!

My observation is that the older (and taller) piano is noticeably more
powerful, although my son when home over the holidays noted that he
liked the newer piano better (maybe because that is the one he is used
to using and is familiar with it's touch/behavior?).

It would be interesting to hear what more informed Digesters can tell
me about these two instruments: similarities, differences, advantages,
disadvantages.  The long term plan is that when the oldest son gets
settled more or less permanently, we will ship the newer piano to him.
