Player Action for Steinway Grand
By Ray Cardogno

Thanks for all the input folks during this first week of much learning!
I just went to the church to look at the Steinway again and this is
what I found: It's 6'1", the decal under the cover where the roll
goes says Aeolian Co. The 88-note key groups underneath, from bass to
treble, are 26-28-17-17. You can see that all 88 felts were actuated
by the wear spots.

The overall piano width is 59-1/2". Inside the control panel are the
labels (no levers): Normal/Soft/Dance, Theme Graduation/Bass-Treble,
Retool Play, Motor. There are a pair of MAMM/NPMA decals numbered
471759

Again the numbers on the piano are: cast into the harp rear are
the numbers: 12/31.0 5320 Stenciled on harp toward the front are the
numbers: B4903 224170

Is the Aeolian better/worse/indifferent/much harder to find, etc.?

I guess I don't need the Duo-Art action after all! If I decide not to
buy this piano, it will be available for sale by my church. Is anyone
interested? Does anyone have a good deal on a complete Steinway
reproducing grand needing refurbishing?

Thanks,

Ray Cardogno

P.S. Hey folks, I think day is dawning on marblehead...
Is Duo-Art made by Aeolian?

[ Sure is! :-) -- Robbie
