When you scan a music roll, I was wondering how you synchronize the MIDI
clock to the step perforations in a music roll.  MIDI software usually
breaks a measure into -?- so many steps a measure.

How does one sync each measure from a piano roll into each measure
in MIDI.  Is it "MIDI" or "Midi"?

 [ MIDI is an acronym (that's why it's always in capital letters) which
 [ stands for Musical Instrument Digital Interface.  The MIDI wireline
 [ signals can be recorded on a computer in the Standard MIDI File
 [ (SMF) format.  Computer programs called music sequencers and editors
 [ can modify the MIDI data files.

 [ The tempo of the music is determined by the MIDI clock "metronome"
 [ built into the editor/sequencer program, but an external MIDI clock
 [ signal can also be selected.  One use is to synchronize the MIDI
 [ data with the crankshaft of a perforator.  Conversely, a roll
 [ reader fitted with a measuring wheel can generate the MIDI clock so
 [ that the computer file is synchronized with the motion of the paper.
