Welte-Mignon Featured on European TV
By Hauke Marxsen

Hello Europeans, Dr. Walter Tenten has informed me about a TV
transmission on Sunday. In a program magazine I have found it
as well (3/4 hours long).

Sunday, 25 April 1999 / 11.00 o'clock

Title: "Selbst spielt das Klavier, Welte-Mignon und die mechanische
Musik" (A selfplaying piano, Welte-Mignon and the mechanical music)

Channel: West 3 (WDR3)

If you are able to receive the ASTRA satellites, you will find it on:
ASTRA-1C / 19.2 deg. East / Transponder 39 / 11.05275 GHz / H

The ASTRA satellites reach more than 74 million TV households in
Europe; from Norway in the North to Spain in the South and from France
in the West to Poland in the East. I found that information on the
ASTRA homepage: http://www.astra.lu/

Regards from Hauke Marxsen (Germany)

 [ Editor's note:
 [
[ The producer/director of this program, Oliver Becker of Berlin,
[ sent me a draft preview of the press release:
 [
[ "The film tells the story of mechanical music in this century,
[ with the basis being on original compositions for the player piano,
[ including the technical innovations of the Welte company and its
[ inventors. The most important pianists and compositions of the
[ 19th century are heard via the Welte Mignon system developed by
 [ Edwin Welte."
 [
[ Juergen Hocker and Hans-W. Schmitz are among the contemporary
[ experts who appear in the program.
