Hello all,  this is my first time writing.  I'm curious if anyone can
recommend a good book on automata, singing birds, etc.  Of particular
interest to me are those that will show detailed photos or diagrams of
the inner workings.

I'm trying my hand at putting together a small music box and wanted
to fashion a seated figure on top that could move like as if playing
a mandolin or similar instrument.  Any advice would be greatly apprec-
iated as I have never built one.
