In 990517 MMDigest Bob Conant spoke about a number of rolls he has,
labeled "Selected Recordings Service".  He is entirely right believing
they were sent regularly to subscribers.  We can read some more details
in an advertisement published in a 1928 Ampico Bulletin:

  Selected Recordings Service : A subscription to the Selected
  Recordings Service offers an unusually pleasing Christmas gift
  suggestion.  It insures the automatic arrival of three recordings
  each month - the best of the new rolls - selected by a committee
  of musical judges appointed for the purpose.  The recordings are
  delivered at the owner's door by parcel post.
  Service, Subscription for one year : Price $ 50.00

Does this mean that purchasing these rolls is getting the best ?
