Stereo Immortals Play Again
By Rob Leftwich

Many years ago when I worked in broadcasting, our station aired a weekly
feature known as "Keyboard Immortals Play Again, In Stereo" that was
distributed by SuperScope. At that time, SuperScope was the US importer of
Sony stereo/hi-fi equipment. The recordings were distributed to radio
stations on reel-to-reel tape and were the brainchild of Joseph Tushinsky
(sp?), then president of SuperScope.

If I remember correctly, the recordings were made at Tushinsky's home,
using a Bosendorfer concert grand and a Velte Vorsetzer. All of this
equipment was probably the personal property of Tushinsky.

I'm wondering if any of these audio tapes survive and if it would be
possible to obtain copies. Also, is there any literature on Tushinsky's
efforts to transfer the early recordings of some of the great pianists to a
modern audio format.
