Wood Dust and Bugs In Music Box
By Andy LaTorre

I have an easy solution which may work for Mr. Brady's buggy music
box. My daughter had a wooden imported plant stand which looked like
a fluted pillar. She complained of hearing scratching noises occasion-
ally and it concerned her. So I placed it in a chest freezer for a few
days. No more noises.

Now, doing this for a music box would take some care. I would remove
the metal mechanism so that when the cold box is removed from the
freezer condensation will not cause rusting. I might also enclose
the box in a plastic bag to keep the room air from causing excessive
condensation. Also, if the box is put into a refrigerator to thaw for
a few hours and then placed in the open air, condensation can be
greatly reduced.
