Repairing Calf Skin Drum Heads
By Dave Zeffertt

Jack Niewoehner asks where he can get good calfskin for making snare
drum heads. I have an Arburo jazz organ with a set of metric size
drums with the original cowhide drum heads. I tried the best drum
suppliers (I'm in Canada), but they couldn't match up heads for
metric-sized drums.

However, they did repair the cowhide skins by using some small hide
pieces they had saved and gluing the skins with super glue (possibly
the glue was invented for gluing skin... 'nuff said!). That was five
years ago and they are holding up well.
