FS: 1896 Circus Wagon with Calliope
By Julie Beck

-- forwarded message, please reply to sender and MMD --

Our family is looking for a new home for our forced air calliope
housed in an ornate circus wagon. This precious piece of history was
a passion of our late parents. After reading several articles in MMD
we thought you could help us out.

The ornately carved circus wagon dates back to 1896 and was purchased
from a lion and tiger trainer for Ringling Brothers circus. The wagon
is enhanced with carvings of Greek gods and goddesses, flowers, birds
and gold filigree trim. Inside is a 43-note Tangley air calliope
dating back to the 1920's.

The wagon is 4 ft. 8 in. wide and 10 ft. 6 in. long, and has been
stored inside. It has a custom-made canvas cover and is on a flatbed
trailer to make transportation easier. A banner board can be placed
on top for advertising.

The unit is in pristine condition and needs to be enjoyed by the
public again. Once pulled in the great Milwaukee Circus parade, you
can almost imagine the sound of the whistles as they played many
times before.

We are located in La Crosse, Wisconsin. For further information
and photos call 608-783-5822 (evenings) or write to: Monte Beck,
N5623 Cheyenne Dr., Onalaska, WI 54650. You can also e-mail us at

Thank you,

Julie Beck
