Mechanical Instruments Museum in Luebeck, Germany
By Philippe Rouillé

Francoise Dussour told me that at the Waldkirch Festival (beginning
of June, I could not alas attend the festival) there was a large
hand-operated mechanical organ from a museum in Luebeck (north of
Germany). Three men had to turn the handle, one after the other,
and it was a hard job.

Does anyone know about this organ and the collection of that museum,
especially in the mechanical music field ? Have you any address of
that museum, and would it be worth to add it to the listing in my web
page Musica Mecanica ?

Thanks in advance for your answer,

[ The organ is "De Poppenspaeler", built circa 1989 by Frederic
[ Keller, especially to perform for the children outside the Puppet
[ Theater Museum in Luebeck. Keller is a Black Forest craftsman (now
[ living in France) and, true to the traditions of Waldkirch, the
[ scale of the 47-key organ is based upon a tried-and-proven design
[ by Carl Frei. It has 176 pipes, and features a loud, sonorous bass
[ voice which demands lots of air ! -- Robbie
