I have been using my "Hold Heet" (sic) glue pot and am quite happy with
it, except for the following problem:

As the pot holds a quart of glue and I would prefer to make up small
batches of glue as I need them, I have been using the pot  as a double
boiler, putting water in it and suspending a small mason or baby food
jar in the hot water.  The aluminum pot first became pitted with spots
of corrosion, now pin holes through the walls of the pot have appeared.

My questions are:

- Can I prevent pot corrosion by using a "sacrificial" piece of metal
  in the pot, as zinc strips are used on boats?

- How can I fix the holes in the aluminum pot?

- Why aren't these pots made out of copper like "real" glue pots were??
