Surviving Wurlitzer 157 Band Organs
By Hal Davis

A Wurlitzer Style 157 exists in Grand Rapids MI which was originally
made to play Caliola rolls, and I understand that a Mr. John
Perschbacher began converting it to play series 165 band organ rolls.
Not having talked with him recently, I know not if the conversion was
successfully completed.

At one of the band organ rallies in Ohio several years ago, I saw
a reproduction 157 that I believe was made by Mr. Don Stinson for Pan
American Airways. In fact, I may even have a photograph of it.
While it didn't have the same voicing as the Wurlitzer Style 157s, it
nevertheless was a good sounding instrument, one that Mr. Stinson could
be proud of.
