The fifth selection on 1918 H roll 413 is "Tom Brown's Saxophone March."
I would not ordinarily bother anyone with such a datum, but the curious
thing about it is that it is not a march, but a waltz. It is a pleasant
little number, sounding like an abbreviated version of one of those
Sunday-afternoon-at-the-bandshell concert waltzes featuring a cornet
rather than a saxophone. Now I'm starting to wonder about Tom Brown,
too.

Following Richard Vance's suggestion in yesterday's Digest, I tried the
MTSU "popmusic" address and came up empty handed. Given Automatic's roll
production, the piece should probably also appear somewhere around
orchestion roll G-250 and coin piano roll A-600. Does anybody know
anything about this piece and or why Tom Brown didn't know the
difference between marches and waltzes?
