Reed Organ Pipes & Reed Stops
By Bruce Clark

Pipe organ reed stops do indeed have a reed. The reed is brass and
held in place with a wooden plug. There is a tuning wire that tunes it
by sliding against the face of the reed, thus lengthening or shortening
the vibrating portion of the reed.

Reed pipes are notorious for going out of tune at a moments notice, and
are very susceptible to temperature changes.
