13.25" Pin End Roll for Farrand Cecilian Player
By Adam G. Ramet

The large width pin-end roll made by the Farrand Organ Company, which
Bob Lloyd describes in MMD 9th March, is for the Farrand Cecilian Piano
Player. Marketed by the Farrand Organ Company, it was originally a
65-note piano player playing these non-standard width rolls.

Later the company produced a dual tracker version which played the
Cecilian rolls and also standard 65-note ones also. Eventually, like
many other of these unusual systems it ended up as a standard roll
playing 88-note player piano.

In Art Reblitz's book on restoring players there is a picture of the
Cecilian patented cast metal pneumatic stack. If you go to eBay and
type in Cecilian you should come up with some pictures of old Cecilian
adverts from 1900-1910 which are often on sale there.
